Katou, Crowley, or Sanosuke seem like the best choices to me, with an emphasis on Katou for the time being, I think; the other two seem more easy to influence, and I'd also want someone who didn't draw suspicion on the polls to begin with.
Sanosuke has seemed suspicious to sheep in games I've played with him before; he might be useful and Crowley might suffer from the handicaps of a first game. And -- ah, I don't object to it, but... why Katou?
A random choice has the advantage of keeping the sheep off kilter without sticking our own heads up -- they make up reasons we might have done it; I know Axel did it in a recent game I played up on. Also, I wanted a random of the ones who got 0 suspicion votes, because there's always a chance of using the other ones' starting suspicion somehow. Katou and Kira also seemed to know each other, so if there was something about Kira we didn't know before he went out, it may have been shared with Katou, who may have more information than the rest of us. And I didn't really want the others for the reasons you said -- easy to influence. I'd still be open to other zero-vote options, though I'm leery about this potamos thing. I'll give reasons below.
