I don't think that's true at all - Near-kun didn't do much of anything. If I didn't know how smart Near-kun was already, I wouldn't have wanted to get rid of him.
I really don't know what is with those clues. None of them point to any of us - though we're still missing our last wolf - and they've all been associated with sheep. Perhaps we're reading it wrong.
'American Pie' is probably Light-kun, since his username is about pie.
'Death Becomes Her' is Hyatt-san, unless anyone else has a better explanation.
And 'The Princess Bride' is me, although it should probably be better to let them keep thinking it's Oscar-kun. That way, when they oust Hyatt-san, they'll go for him next. I mentioned in passing that it could refer to me, but that was just to look honest. I hope they just ignore me.
We must make sure Hyatt-san is ousted. If Near-kun is the sheepdog, he'll probably think that Light-kun tried to eat him last night, so we have to keep Light-kun in the game. The clue makes it even more important, lest Near-kun start looking seriously at me.

Unless he just wanted to see if the wolves would try to off him first, in which case that probably points to Light-kun more than any of us. But that also means that if Light-kun gets eaten or voted out, that he'll start looking for someone else to go after.
Either way, I'd say it would be safe to think that he's going to keep protecting himself for the remainder of the game. I think we're stuck with him and Light-kun.
So... I think the next one we should go after would be someone who talks to lots of people. If the sheep are scattered, they won't be able to share information or know where to put their votes. Tomo-chan likes to talk to everyone a lot, so I think we should eat her next.
So we gotta keep em snappin' at each other's ruffs an' just take out them people around em? Sounds pretty easy 'nuff. I ain't got a problem wit' that attack plan none. If that be the way o that sheepdog, then we can just pick off an'one else we want without much worry.
